AMALTAS – CASSIA FISTULA

The Golden Shower tree is the national tree of Thailand. Its flower is the state flower of Kerala, a southern state in India. The therapeutic benefits of AMALTAS are recorded in traditional medicine texts in Sri Lanka, Burma and India. In Ayurveda, the tree is also called aragvadha or ‘the disease killer’. It is effective in treating skin diseases, gastrointestinal disorders and cardiac problems.

SWARANPATRI – CASSIA ANGUSTIFOLIA

It is useful in habitual costiveness. It lowers bowels, increases peristaltic movements of the colon by its local action upon the intestinal wall. It is used as expectorant, wound dresser, antidysentric, carminative and laxative. Useful for loss of appetite, hepatomegaly, spleenomegaly, indigestion, malaria, skin diseases, jaundice and anaemia. Leaves are made into a paste, and applied to various skin diseases.

It is an effective purgative and helps in removing toxins and fats from the body resulting in their reduced absorption. BAHERA TERMINALIA BELERICA

It is astringent, tonic, expectorant and laxative. It is used in coughs and sore throat. Its pulp is used in dropsy, piles and diarrhea. It is also useful in leprosy, fever and hair care. It is also used in oxalic acid and preparation of ink. It is used in case of rheumatism. Seed oil is applied in skin diseases and premature graying of hair.

 

GULAB – ROSA CENTIFOLIA

The roots are astringent and vulnerary and useful in intestinal ulcers, rickets, haemorrhages and diarrhea. The leaves are useful in treating wounds, ophthalmia, hepatopathy and haemorrhoids. The flowers are bitter, astringent, sweet, cooling emollient aromatic, cardio tonic, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, digestive, carminative, , depurative, febrifuge, intellect-promoting styptic, rejuvenating and tonic. It is useful in asthma, high blood pressure, bronchitis, slow circulation, diarrhea, dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation), cough, fever, fluid retention, Indigestion, insomnia, palpitation, stress and urinary tract infections. Several rose products are used to make creams, lotions and other cosmetic uses. Mix with vegetable glycerin for moisturizing use. Rose water is used in desserts, pastries and cakes. The flower buds are astringent and are used in cardiac troubles and as a tonic. Gulkand made from the petals possesses mild laxative properties and is useful in sore throat and enlarged tonsils.
